Is Ibn Taymiyyah an extremist?

Ibn Taymiyyah was an Imam who had his own juristic opinions and choices based on legitimate Sharia evidence. Whoever studies his jurisprudence and books will find in them breadth, flexibility, and the application of permissible concessions (rukhsah) in religious acts, transactions, and marriages. This indicates that his jurisprudence is built upon evidence and proof from the Qur'an and Sunnah, and it is incorrect to describe him as rigid or extreme.

Abu Hafs al-Bazzar mentioned that Ibn Taymiyyah would choose what was preponderant based on textual and rational evidence, and he would prioritize sound Hadith over the opinion of any mujtahid. He was adherent to the Qur'an and Sunnah, unconcerned by anyone's statement. This is what every Imam who follows evidence and acts upon truth should be, and this cannot be considered rigidity or extremism.
