Is it permissible to wash the parts of Wudu' twice, such that the second washing completes the first?

The most complete form of ablution (Wudu') is to wash the limbs that are prescribed for it three times, while there is a consensus among Muslims that a single wash is obligatory. If you did not completely cover a limb with the first wash, and then washed the remaining unwashed spot (lum'ah) in the second or third wash, intending thereby to achieve the virtue, there is a difference of opinion among jurists regarding the validity of the ablution. Some jurists hold that the ablution is invalid, while the majority of the Khurasanian scholars deem it valid. As for the Malikis and Hanbalis, they permit this type of ablution.
