What is the ruling on a woman wearing loose trousers (sirwal) that do not describe the body in front of women and mahrams? Is it considered imitation of disbelievers? Is it permissible in front of the husband if it imitates men? And must a woman's clothing always be loose, or is it sufficient that it does not show the shape of the body?

It is permissible for a woman to wear trousers in front of women and her mahram relatives, provided they are loose-fitting and do not describe her awrah (private parts), and on condition that there is no imitation of men or infidel women. As for wearing them in front of her husband, there is absolutely no harm, unless it involves a forbidden imitation. It is not necessary for a woman's clothing to be loose-fitting in all situations; rather, the obligation is to cover the awrah with clothing that does not describe or define it. The awrah varies depending on the observer: a woman's awrah in front of women and mahram relatives is what does not usually appear, whereas in front of non-mahram men, her entire body is awrah and must be covered with loose-fitting clothing that does not describe her form.
