The answer

Whoever has intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan must make up that day and offer expiation. This expiation is the freeing of a slave. If one cannot find a slave, then it is fasting for two consecutive months. If one is unable to do that, then it is feeding sixty poor people.

As for the traveler who arrived having broken his fast, he is not obligated to abstain from eating and drinking upon his arrival. If he has intercourse with his wife who is also breaking her fast, there is nothing upon him. However, if he has intercourse with her while she is fasting and of her own free will, then expiation is binding upon her. If she was coerced, then there is no expiation upon her. It is also said that expiation is binding upon her, and her husband bears it.
