It is obligatory to maintain ties with one's paternal aunt (ammah) because she is a kin relation (dhu rahim). This connection is maintained through visits, kindness, good deeds, and assistance. It is permissible to sit in mixed company with non-mahram women, such as one's paternal aunt's daughters, provided they observe hijab and modesty, and there is no suspicion or private seclusion (khalwa). Otherwise, it is obligatory to advise against impermissible mixing. Similarly, it is permissible to sit with one's paternal uncle (amm) in the presence of his wife, provided she observes complete hijab, with the aforementioned conditions.
