Which is more important: studying or making up missed prayers before committing to them?

Scholars have differed regarding the obligation to make up missed prayers without a valid excuse. The majority of scholars believe that making them up is obligatory, while Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and others have held that making them up is not obligatory. One who intentionally misses prayers should hasten to make them up to clear their conscience, combining making them up with seeking knowledge and performing supererogatory acts of worship. Many scholars have affirmed the obligation of spending time making up missed prayers, and some believe it is sufficient to make up two or more days' worth of prayers in a single day, unless one fears neglecting their family, in which case they should utilize the remaining time in seeking knowledge.
