Repelling evil with good turns an enemy into a close friend and increases a servant's honor. However, refraining from pardon might be more appropriate if it encourages the offender to persist in their wrongdoing. Thus, pardon is better if it entails an overriding benefit. Therefore, one should adorn themselves with pardon and forgiveness unless one knows that pardoning the offender will lead to an overriding harm, in which case it becomes permissible to seek redress to avert this harm.
