What is the definition of love in Islam, and is it restricted to specific types, such as the love of Allah and family, or does it include other forms like "brotherly love," and can love be conditional?

Love is divided into two categories: specific and general. Specific love is either lawful or unlawful. Lawful love includes the love of Allah, which is the most obligatory of duties; the love of the Messenger, which is obligatory and without which faith is incomplete; and the love of prophets and believers, which is also obligatory. As for unlawful love, it includes shirk (associating partners with Allah), such as loving someone other than Allah as one loves Allah. It also includes lesser forms of shirk, such as prioritizing family or wealth over one's duties to Allah. As for general love, it includes natural love, such as the love of food and water; love based on mercy and compassion; and love based on companionship and familiarity. These types of love are permissible and do not necessitate glorification.
