Does listening to music while exercising or programming make these activities, or the money earned from them, impermissible?

Singing accompanied by musical instruments is forbidden, both for men and women, whether it is romantic, enthusiastic, or religious. An exception is made for singing with the duff (a type of tambourine) at weddings, Eid celebrations, and upon the return of a traveler.

As for singing devoid of musical accompaniment: if it is by a woman to men, it is forbidden. If it is by a man and involves permissible words, it is allowed, such as Islamic anashid (chants) free of music, provided they are not overused.

There is a reported consensus on the prohibition of listening to music.

Whoever listens to forbidden singing during their work or exercise commits a sin by listening to the singing. However, this does not affect the ruling on their work or exercise; their work remains permissible if it was originally so. It is preferable to utilize time by remembering Allah or listening to the Quran instead of singing.
