The answer

If a woman embraces Islam while married to a disbeliever, she is obligated to separate from him, and her marriage becomes null and void. If her husband embraces Islam before the expiry of her (waiting period), she remains with him based on the original marriage contract. However, if her iddah expires, she is free to marry whomever she wishes from among the Muslims. The judge or the Muslim community will arrange her marriage if she does not have a Muslim guardian. If her disbelieving husband refuses (to release her), she should refer her case to the judge.
