Is it permissible for someone who arrived late for congregational prayer to pray alone at the back of the mosque in order to catch the rak'ah, and then move to join the row afterward, and will this rak'ah be counted for him?

The ruling on an overtaken worshipper performing the ihram before joining the row, if he fears missing a rak'ah, was previously mentioned, along with the scholarly disagreement on the matter. We favored the opinion that it is disliked (makruh). We also discussed their disagreement regarding the distance one is permitted to cover to join the row.
