Is the questioner punished for cutting ties with her husband's brother, who harms her, despises her, steals from her, and slanders her reputation?

One is advised to fear Allah and to be patient with the harm caused by relatives. Indeed, the pious and patient person is not harmed by the scheming of others, as Allah the Almighty says: "But if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all." (Quran 3:120). One should not respond to evil with evil, but rather with good and beautiful patience, as Allah the Almighty says: "Repel evil with that which is best." (Quran 23:96). It is permissible to remove the one who causes harm from the house to ward off their evil, and this is not considered a severing of kinship ties.
