Is the questioner absolved of the sin of severing ties of kinship if his sister's husband prevents him from visiting his sister? And is the husband sinful who prevents his wife's sisters and children from visiting his family?

Islam encourages good treatment and kindness towards Muslims, and this is especially emphasized concerning relatives and in-laws. Maintaining kinship ties is among the most important rights, and severing them incurs a curse. The Prophet (peace be upon him) enjoined kindness towards in-laws due to their right. Therefore, a man should be kind to his wife's family through words, actions, and financially, as this has a good effect on his relationship with his wife and the upbringing of his children. It is forbidden for the sister and her daughters to criticize the man for severing ties with their relatives, and their duty is to maintain their kinship ties, even if only through words. As for the questioner, there is no sin upon him if he made an effort to communicate but was prevented from doing so.
