Does touching a non-mahram woman invalidate ablution, and what are the scholars' opinions on this issue?

Scholars have differed on the issue of ablution being nullified by touching a woman, holding three main views:

1. First View: Ablution is nullified absolutely, whether with desire or without it (the Shafi'i madhhab). They based their argument on the verse: ﴿أَوْ لَامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاء﴾ (or you have touched women), but this view is weak.

2. Second View: Ablution is not nullified absolutely (the madhhab of Abu Hanifa). They based their argument on narrations indicating that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, touched Aisha while he was praying without performing ablution, and that the default state is the continuation of purity, and that the touching mentioned in the verse refers to sexual intercourse.

3. Third View: It nullifies ablution if it is with desire, but does not nullify it if it is without desire (the Maliki and Hanbali madhhabs). They attempted to reconcile the texts, but the most preponderant interpretation of the verse ﴿أَوْ لَامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاء﴾ (or you have touched women) is sexual intercourse, as interpreted by Ibn Abbas, and as supported by other verses.

The Most Preponderant View: Touching a woman does not nullify ablution absolutely, whether it is with desire or without it. This is the choice of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and other scholars.
