Is it permissible for a man who is inclined towards males to fondle another man—without penetration—with the aim of overcoming the psychological problem that affects his relationship with his wife and his sexual life?

The abomination of sodomy is one of the gravest major sins and greatest transgressions. Islam has severely emphasized the punishment for both the perpetrator and the one upon whom it is perpetrated. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever you find committing the act of the people of Lot, kill the doer and the one to whom it is done." The people of Lot were destroyed because of sodomy, which indicates that sins are more likely to lead to a punishment of eradication in this world than polytheism.

Al-Qurtubi said: "The people of Shu'ayb were destroyed due to cheating in weights and measures, and the people of Lot due to sodomy. This indicates that sins are more likely to lead to a punishment of eradication in this world than polytheism, even though the punishment for polytheism in the Hereafter is more severe."

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, the thing I fear most for my Ummah is the act of the people of Lot."

There is no cure in violating prohibitions, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah has not made the cure for my Ummah in that which He has forbidden to them."

What is obligatory is sincere repentance, regret, and not returning to this abomination.
