One must seek work free from Sharia prohibitions. It is not permissible to work in a job where there is a likelihood of using pirated software, for whoever avoids evil will be safe from it. The ruling on using such programs is prohibition, as it violates intellectual property rights. However, if one is compelled to use them in a permissible job, the salary is lawful, but the sin of unlicensed use remains.
