If you threaten her and do not intend to effect a divorce, and you do not carry out the threat, then an expiation for a broken oath (kaffarat yamin (definition)) is required of you for breaking this oath, especially if the threat was accompanied by the mention of Allah's name. It is important to note that if there was a reason to prevent the wife from visiting her family and that reason has ceased to exist, then no divorce occurs.
