The answer

It was previously clarified that the husband's statement to his wife: "You will be divorced if you do such-and-such," requires elaboration. If you threaten her and do not intend to effect a divorce, and you do not carry out the threat, then an expiation for a broken oath (kaffarat ) is required of you for breaking this oath, especially if the threat was accompanied by the mention of Allah's name. It is important to note that if there was a reason to prevent the wife from visiting her family and that reason has ceased to exist, then no divorce occurs. Furthermore, it is incumbent to maintain good relations with in-laws and to avoid using divorce as a means to solve problems.
