Is it permissible for a wife to save money from her husband's wealth without his knowledge, knowing that if she saves it, he will take the money and spend it on his well-off family and another woman, because he believes that this is his duty and that she has no right to his money?

The answer includes six points:

1. A husband's spending on his well-off family falls under the category of righteousness and maintaining kin ties, which is commendable.

2. Regarding the brother who refuses to work: The husband is advised to reduce spending on him to encourage him to work, while still maintaining kinship ties.

3. It is not obligatory for the husband to save money, but doing so is good and does not contradict reliance on Allah (tawakkul (definition)).

4. It is impermissible for the husband to neglect essential needs to cover his family's expenses, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "It is sufficient sin for a person to neglect those whom he is obliged to support."

5. The husband's sinful relationship with a foreign woman and his spending on her is impermissible, and he must repent. The wife should remind him of Allah and seek help from those who have influence over him.

6. It is not permissible for the wife to save money from her husband's wealth without his knowledge, unless he is neglecting the obligatory spending, in which case she may take what is sufficient for herself and her child in a reasonable manner.
