What is masturbation, and what is its ruling in two cases: first, controlling the ejaculation of semen and intentionally expelling it after a wet dream; and second, unintended arousal leading to ejaculation?

Masturbation is the intentional expulsion of semen through any deliberate act other than sexual intercourse. It can be permissible or forbidden.

1. Nocturnal Emission (Wet Dream) with Ejaculation Control: There is no harm in allowing the semen to be expelled in this case, because nocturnal emission is not intentional masturbation, and holding back semen once it is close to expulsion can be harmful.

2. Unintended Arousal Leading to Ejaculation: There is no blame on someone who ejaculates due to arousal that was not by their choice or will, based on the hadith: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are coerced into."

Note: The expulsion of semen with desire necessitates Ghusl (ritual bath), whether it was intentional or unintentional. However, if semen is not expelled, but rather madhy (pre-seminal fluid) is discharged, then only Wudu (ablution) is required.
