Is performing the 'Aqiqah on Eid al-Adha better than donating a live, complete sheep to a needy family?

Slaughtering the 'Aqiqah (definition) (sacrifice for a newborn) and the Udhiyah (definition) (sacrifice of Eid al-Adha) is better than giving their value in charity. Slaughtering the Udhiyah is better than slaughtering the 'Aqiqah because the Udhiyah is more emphasized, and its sunnah (definition) expires with the passing of the days of sacrifice, unlike the 'Aqiqah. Some scholars have permitted combining the Udhiyah and the 'Aqiqah in a single animal, but this is contrary to the opinion of the majority of scholars.
