The answer

It is not permissible to have a forbidden relationship with young men, and it is obligatory to repent from it by abandoning it, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. It might be good for you to turn this man away; therefore, you must praise Allah Almighty and strive to strengthen your connection with Him. Emotional comfort is not a condition for rejecting suitors, for love and affection may come after marriage, just as the stability of married life does not depend on these feelings. The fundamental criterion for choosing a husband is religion and character, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If there comes to you one whose character and religion you approve of, then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption." Therefore, if a man of religion and good character proposes to you, do not hesitate to accept him after consulting your family and performing Istikhara, while being keen on learning religious matters, choosing good company, and persistent in supplication.
