What is the opinion and advice regarding dealing with the family of a girl who demand a high dowry and many conditions for marriage, despite the girl's rejection of other suitors?

Exaggeration and boasting about high dowries are condemned in Islam. The Sharia has made a low dowry an indication of a blessed marriage, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The most blessed of women are those with the least burden [of dowry]." And in another narration: "The most blessed of marriages is that which is the least burdensome [in terms of dowry]."

The questioner is advised to counsel the girl's family and remind them of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) guidance regarding facilitating marriage, and to seek assistance from influential individuals. If they do not respond, he should turn away and seek someone else.

It must be noted that acquaintance between young men and women via the internet or otherwise is not permissible, as it is a major gateway to temptation.
