What is the ruling on filming and publishing video clips of a Muslim suffering or exposed to a calamity, or being beaten or dying, and what are the Shar'i controls for that?

It is not permissible to photograph a person without their permission. The prohibition is further emphasized if the photography involves mockery or exposure of a sin, due to the harm it inflicts upon a Muslim. We have been forbidden from harming believers and commanded to conceal their faults. And whoever seeks out the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah will seek out his faults.

Photographing a person and publishing their picture is permissible if they have given permission and if the picture does not contain anything objectionable. As for watching these clips, it is not permissible if it is known that the owner dislikes it, or if there is an indication of dislike, or if it contains anything that is not permissible to watch or listen to. The general rule for published videos is that it is permissible to watch them.
