The answer

Eating and drinking do not nullify ablution, unless the eaten food is camel meat. The things that nullify ablution are eight:

1. Anything that exits from the two private parts, as Allah says: "or one of you comes from the call of nature."

2. The copious flow of blood, pus, serous fluid, or copious vomit.

3. Loss of consciousness due to insanity, intoxication, fainting, or deep sleep.

4. Touching the front or back private part with the hand without a barrier.

5. A man touching a woman's skin or vice versa with desire, though the more prevalent view is that it does not nullify ablution.

6. Eating camel meat, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Perform ablution after (eating) camel meat."

7. Washing a dead body.

8. Apostasy from Islam, as Allah says: "If you associate others with Allah, surely your work will be annulled, and you will certainly be among the losers."
