What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a wife who neglects her husband and does not fulfill his legitimate desires after they have been blessed with offspring?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
The husband is advised to frankly tell his wife that she must obey him in matters of enjoyment unless she has a valid excuse, and that her refusal without an excuse makes her disobedient (nashiz), rebellious against her Lord, and exposed to the warning of the angels. If admonition does not work, he should resort to the lawful means of correction, such as shunning her in bed and light beating (non-bruising). If that does not help, then divorce is the last resort. If his wife does not keep him chaste, he should marry another if he can; otherwise, he should seek chastity through fasting, guarding his hearing and sight, and seeking help from Allah.
