The answer

Praying inside the Kaaba is recommended, whether it is a supererogatory or obligatory prayer, according to the majority of scholars. However, Ibn Abbas, some Maliki scholars, the Zahiris, and Al-Tabari hold the view that it is not valid at all, because it necessitates turning one's back to part of it. If a Muslim prays inside it, he can pray in any part of it, facing any wall or the door. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed inside the Kaaba between the two Yemeni pillars.
