How can the Qur’an be one of God’s attributes, when it inheres in created beings (in mus-hafs and breasts), given that God’s attributes do not inhere in His creation?

Speech is an attribute of the speaker. No matter how much it is heard, memorized, or written, the attribute does not transfer nor does it inhere in another. Speech is attributed to the one who originated it, not to the one who conveyed or delivered it. The verbal and external levels unite in speech. The meaning of "from Him it issued and from Him it originated" is not that it departed from His essence and inhered in another, for an attribute does not depart from the described and inhere in another, neither the attribute of the Creator nor the attribute of the created. The speech is the speech of the Creator, and the voice is the voice of the reciter. The speech of Allah is established in the Qur'ans of the Muslims. Whoever claims that what is in the Qur'an is not the speech of Allah, or that the speech of Allah departed from His essence and transferred to another, is an apostate. The letters of the Qur'an are uncreated, for the Qur'an is the uncreated speech of Allah wherever it is recited and wherever it is written; it does not change, transform, or alter. The Glorious Qur'an is from the knowledge of Allah Almighty, and whoever says that the Qur'an is created has disbelieved, because their statement necessitates that the knowledge of Allah be created.
