How is the Witr prayer performed?

The Witr prayer has multiple forms: praying one rak'ah after the night prayer (two by two), such as when one prays two rak'ahs and then one, or four and then one, and so on. One may suffice with a single rak'ah with takbir, bowing, prostration, tashahhud, and taslim after the Isha prayer. It can be prayed as three rak'ahs like the Maghrib prayer (the method of the Hanafis), or three, five, seven, nine, or eleven rak'ahs continuously with a single tashahhud at the very end, or with two tashahhuds, one in the last rak'ah and one in the rak'ah preceding it. The maximum number of rak'ahs for Witr is eleven, and the minimum is one, while the minimum for perfection is three rak'ahs.
