Does the deceased know that he is in the grave and that he is dead?

The deceased knows that he has died and departed from the world, based on what is stated in the long Hadith (definition) of Al-Bara', where the soul of the believer is returned to his body, and the two angels question him about his Lord, his religion, and his Prophet. Then it is proclaimed that "My servant has spoken the truth," and a door to Paradise is opened for him, and his righteous deeds come to him. It is possible that the spaciousness in the grave is either to be taken literally or metaphorically, with the former being more accurate.
