What is the matter that grieves the questioner, and which she fears might be an affliction for which there is no patience?

The tribulation may be due to God's will of good for His servant, to expiate his sins and raise his ranks; in accordance with the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whomever Allah wishes good for, He puts him through some hardship," and his saying: "Calamity continues to befall the believer in his person, his wealth, and his children, until he meets Allah with no sin on him," and his saying: "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were a prick of a thorn, but Allah expiates some of his sins thereby," and his saying: "Indeed, the greatness of the reward is with the greatness of the affliction. And indeed, when Allah loves a people, He afflicts them. So, whoever is content, for him is contentment, and whoever is displeased, for him is displeasure."
