The answer

For the obligation of zakat on salary and other cash assets, there are two conditions: reaching the nisab (minimum threshold) and the passing of a complete lunar year (hawl). There are two methods for its zakat: The first, and easier, is for a person to look at what they have accumulated from their salary after the passing of the hawl and then pay zakat on it, without differentiating between what has completed its hawl and what has not. The second is to assign a separate hawl for all savings accumulated each month. Paying zakat on the aforementioned salary upon receiving it is considered an advanced payment of zakat before the hawl has passed, which is permissible according to the preponderant opinion, as long as the wealth has reached the nisab.
