Is it permissible to donate stolen money to a Quran memorization center, or must it be given as charity to a poor family?

One of the conditions for repentance is to return rights to their owners. Therefore, strive to find out the family whose money was stolen, and ask your father about them. If, after making an effort, you are unable to find them, then donate the amount with the intention on behalf of its owners to any good cause. It is preferable that it be given to the category for which the money was originally intended. And increase your seeking of forgiveness and doing good deeds. If you find the family after donating, then give them the choice between approving the donation, in which case the reward will be theirs, or taking their right, in which case the reward for the donation will be yours.
