What is the practical advice for facilitating marriage for young Muslims in the West, especially with the rising age of marriage and increasing costs, while considering parents' concern for the couple's well-being?
First: Discussing matters of Sharia and spending time on them is among the most beneficial actions; it is an act of worship and a pursuit of knowledge. When a difficulty arises, one must consult people of knowledge.
Second: Advice for those living in lands of disbelief is to migrate to Muslim lands where tribulations are fewer, and to leave environments that might lead them astray. They should hasten to marry a righteous woman who is not burdensome in her dowry and demands. If one is unable to marry, then he must fear Allah by lowering his gaze and ears, and seek help through fasting, prayer, supplication, and righteous companionship. He should occupy himself with what benefits him, such as seeking knowledge, memorizing the Quran, and inviting others to Allah.
Third: Guardians and youth should not consider education an obstacle to marriage, for marriage aids in academic achievement and mental peace, and it is an obedience to the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. Guardians should ease their demands on young men, for exaggeration is extravagance and waste. Let them know that marriage is among the causes of sustenance, as Allah Almighty says: (And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing).
