What is the importance of discussing the actual, tangible location of Allah Almighty, and will one be questioned about it on the Day of Resurrection? Is knowledge of it an obligation, or is it more appropriate to spend time on matters of greater importance and benefit? And is a Muslim sinful if he dies without knowing this?

The knowledge of Allah, His names, and His attributes is the most honorable of all sciences. In the Muslim creed, there is no such thing as "the actual, physical location of Allah the Almighty." He is unlike anything else; He is established upon His Throne above His heavens, and the heavens do not contain Him. Rather, He is exalted above His creation and independent of them. It is permissible to ask about the names and attributes of Allah and His transcendence. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked the slave girl, "Where is Allah?" and she replied, "In the heaven," and he approved of her answer. Allah the Almighty is in the direction of elevation, above the Throne, and this is what the predecessors of the Ummah unanimously agreed upon. Whoever says that He is everywhere is a disbeliever in Allah and His Messenger. Allah must be described as He described Himself and as His Messenger described Him, without distortion, negation, asking how, or likening Him to creation.
