Continuous charity is the endowment (waqf), which is when its origin is held in trust and its benefit is made available, such as building mosques, schools, and hospitals. It is among the best acts of devotion because its reward continues after the death of its owner. As for spending on one's family, it is among the greatest acts of devotion, especially obligatory spending, and it has two rewards: the reward of charity and the reward of maintaining kinship ties. Despite its virtue, it is not considered continuous charity because its origin is consumed. Continuous charity is that whose benefit is given in charity while its origin remains.
