The answer

Allah created man for His worship, and He legislated for him acts of worship through which he earns reward in this world and the hereafter. He also legislated for him means that increase his good deeds after his death, which are ongoing charities (ṣadaqah jāriyah). An ongoing charity is one whose reward continues after a person's death, and this includes endowments (waqf), such as building mosques and similar deeds. That whose reward does not continue, like feeding the poor, is not called an ongoing charity. What a person gives in charity is considered his true wealth, which remains for him and benefits him after his death.
