What is the amount of expiation (kaffarah) that must be paid for the entire month of Ramadan for a pregnant sister-in-law who will give birth during it, knowing that she will not be able to make up the days after childbirth due to her poor health? Is it permissible to pay it in cash instead of grains? And can it be given to one person, or must it be distributed to two people to ensure thirty iftar meals?

A pregnant woman who breaks her fast in Ramadan (definition) must make up the days she missed during the year. The obligation to make up the fast does not cease unless there is a continuous inability. If she broke her fast out of fear for her fetus, then in addition to making up the fast, she must feed one poor person for each day. The feeding should be in the form of food, not money, though it is permissible to give money if it is more beneficial for the poor.
