Is it obligatory to return the balance taken from the youth, or to give it as charity, or is repentance sufficient?

That which is taken by deception is forbidden. And for a complete repentance, one must get rid of it by giving its value to charitable causes. The money should not be returned to those from whom it was taken, because it was taken in exchange for an illicit benefit for the giver, so that he does not combine both the illicit benefit and its compensation. All ill-gotten gains must be given in charity. However, if the person is needy, he may take what suffices his need and donate the rest. As for money taken by force, if its owner is known, it must be returned to him. If the owner is not known, it should be given in charity on his behalf.
