What is the ruling on someone who slandered an innocent girl and caused her harm out of revenge against the girl's fiancé, and then regretted it and wishes to repent, but cannot reach the girl to ask for forgiveness? How can she atone for her sin and appease God? And is her act considered "qadhf" (slanderous accusation)?

Dating between men and women for marriage is impermissible due to the temptations and corruptions it entails. The questioner must repent to Allah for her relationship with the young man and for slandering the girl. This repentance involves abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. She must also refute herself to those before whom she spoke ill of this girl. It is not a condition to seek the girl's forgiveness directly. The questioner has no right to supplicate against the young man because she wronged herself by persisting in the relationship.
