Is it permissible to repeat the Beautiful Names of Allah (Asma Allah al-Husna) a specific number of times, with the belief that each Name possesses a particular property?

The prescribed remembrance (dhikr) is that which consists of complete and meaningful phrases, such as: "Lā ilāha illā Allah" (There is no god but Allah), "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest), "Subhan Allah wa al-hamdulillah" (Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to Allah), and "Lā hawla wa lā quwwata illā billah" (There is no might or power except with Allah). As for remembrance using the singular noun "Allah, Allah" or "Hu, Hu" (He, He), this is not prescribed in the Qur'an or Sunnah, nor has it been authentically reported from any of the predecessors (Salaf). Rather, it has been vocalized by some misguided individuals from later generations. Similarly, the notion that each of Allah's names possesses a specific property is not supported by any evidence. We advise fearing Allah (taqwa) and remembering Him with complete phrases, and frequently supplicating Him by His names and attributes.
