What is the view of Islam on "the Abyssinians," what is our stance toward them, and what are their doctrinal errors?

The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta concluded that "the Ahbash group" is a misguided sect outside the fold of Muslims (Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah). It called upon Muslims to beware of them and not to trust their fatwas or their discourse on prophetic hadiths, due to their false beliefs and aberrant stances, which include: deferring faith (irjaa'), permitting seeking help from the dead, denying that the Qur'an is truly the word of Allah, allegorizing Allah's attributes, denying Allah's exaltedness above His creation, and slandering some of the Companions. The Committee also pointed out their aberrant fatwas that contravene Islamic law, such as permitting gambling with disbelievers, stealing their crops, engaging in usurious transactions with them, permitting looking at a non-mahram woman with desire, and the free mixing of men and women. The Committee affirmed that this group slanders the scholars of the Ummah, such as Ibn Taymiyyah and Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab.
