Is it obligatory to perform ghusl immediately after the cessation of menstrual bleeding, or should one wait for the white discharge (al-qassah al-baida') or dryness (al-jufūf)? If yellowness is connected with blood, a woman should not perform ghusl until the blood and the yellowness connected to it cease, so long as this cessation occurs before the passage of fifteen days. Therefore, all eleven days are considered menstruation until she sees purity by one of its two signs: dryness (jufūf) or the white discharge (qaṣṣah bayḍāʾ). If she sees dryness after the cessation of blood, she has become pure, and any yellowness or brownish discharge she sees thereafter is not considered menstruation, as long as it is outside the period of her customary cycle.
