If a woman sees dryness, she must promptly perform ghusl (definition) and prayer, and she is subject to the rulings of those who are pure. Some scholars hold that if she sees dryness during her customary period, she may wait half a day or a full day to ensure purity. If a woman performs ghusl after seeing purity, then sees blood thereafter, she reverts to being in a state of menstruation as long as this occurs within the possible time frame for menstruation. When the returning blood ceases, she performs ghusl again. As for a brownish or yellowish discharge, it is not considered menstruation unless it occurs during the customary period.
