The answer

It is not permissible to associate with non-Muslims or to sit with them when they are committing evil, due to Allah’s saying: "O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever of you takes them on as allies, indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people." And His saying: "O you who have believed, do not take as intimates those other than yourselves, for they will not hesitate to ruin you. They wish what would distress you. Already hatred has appeared from their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater. We have certainly made clear to you the signs, if you will use reason." For they strive to mislead the believers from the truth, and "a companion is a drawer." As for sitting with them when they are not committing disobedience and without affection, it may be permissible.
