Is minor shirk included in the the verse: {Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills}, and what is the preponderant opinion among scholars regarding this?

The preponderant view is that minor Shirk (definition) (polytheism) is a type of sin and falls under Allah's Will. Sheikh Suleiman, son of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, supported this view, arguing that hardly anyone is safe from it except those whom Allah protects, and because forgiveness is the dissolution of a sin, while its persistence necessitates punishment. He also reasoned that perpetrators of major sins will not abide eternally in Hellfire, and that a sin for which one deserves to enter Hellfire is forgivable as long as faith exists. This is unlike major Shirk, which is unforgivable; it necessitates eternal, painful torment and does not dissipate with the punishment of its perpetrator. Therefore, it is certain that minor Shirk is a great sin, like the rest of the sins that are open to forgiveness.
