What is the reason Salafis call themselves by that name, and what about these many other designations? And do these not divide and fragment Muslims? And why don't we say: We are all Muslims, without these designations? And is it possible to unite Muslims by returning to what the Prophet (peace be upon him) left behind? And is this understanding mistaken?

Salafism is an attribution to the righteous predecessors (Salaf) from the three best generations. Whoever follows their path is a Salafi. There is no contradiction between the Salafi methodology and the four well-known jurisprudential schools of thought. Disagreements among them can be permissible or impermissible. What is blameworthy is fanaticism for names and slogans and partisanship based on them. However, there is no harm in a group of Muslims gathering to cooperate in righteousness and piety, provided that Islam remains the bond between them. The division of Muslims is a matter of divine decree. When there is disagreement, the obligation is to seek the truth in the Quran, the Sunnah (definition), and the practices of the Companions.
