Is Zakat obligatory on a sum of 8,0 Riyals saved for three years, whether it is stored or invested in commercial projects?
Whoever possesses the (minimum taxable amount) of money and a full year has passed on it must pay one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%) of it as . The nisab is equivalent to the value of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver. If the money equals the nisab of either currency, zakat of one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%) is to be paid for each year since it reached the nisab, whether the money is saved or invested in commercial projects. However, if the wealth consists of trade goods, these goods are to be appraised at the completion of the year. If their value reaches the nisab by themselves or when combined with other money, zakat becomes obligatory on them, which is one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%).
