Is it permissible to give zakat to a poor maternal aunt whose husband is rich but does not spend enough on her and her children?

If a married woman’s husband is in financial difficulty or refrains from spending on her, and she herself is poor and has no money, it is permissible to give her from zakat (definition), even if the zakat payer is not obligated to spend on her. Scholars have permitted this, indicating that in such a case, she is considered poor or indigent, and has not become self-sufficient through her husband.
