Why was the Matn (the text of the Hadith) given this name?

The "matn" (text) of the hadith (definition) is what its isnad (definition) (chain of narration) concludes with, meaning the words, actions, or tacit approvals of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Linguistically, "matn" refers to what is firm and elevated from something, as if the isnad strengthens and elevates it. Alternatively, it can derive from "muba'adah fi al-ghayah" (achieving a distant objective), as if the narrator reaches it through the isnad.
