The answer

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, resided in Medina for eleven years, from Rabi' al-Awwal of the thirteenth year of his prophethood until Rabi' al-Awwal of the eleventh year of his Hijra. During this period, he traveled for his military expeditions (ghazawat), , and Hajj. The virtue of sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is well-known. Muslim narrated from Abu Hurayrah that "Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times." An-Nasa'i narrated from Abu Burdah that "Whoever among my Ummah sends blessings upon me with a sincere heart, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times, raise him ten degrees, record ten good deeds for him, and erase ten bad deeds from him." Some scholars have gone so far as to say that it is obligatory to send blessings upon him whenever he is mentioned, and this is the most cautious approach due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever I am mentioned in his presence and he does not send blessings upon me, then he dies and enters Hellfire, may Allah cast him far away."
